Tips for keeping well this Christmas - image of pink and white hearts on a darker background

I know Christmas can be an incredibly stressful time of year for many people.  Buying presents, writing cards, wrapping presents, nights out, cooking for what seems like hundreds of people!! It can also unfortunately be a sad and lonely time of year for many people.

Every year I tell myself I’m going to be organised and get everything done early and I never usually do it.  This year though I’ve impressed myself, to be honest…and will probably shock my best friend Esther… inspire to be as organised as she is!!!

So, the stress, late nights out, alcohol and all that Christmas stuff does take it out of us, so here are a few wee tips to help you keep well this Christmas! I will also try and practice what I preach!!

Here are my tips…

  • Limit social media interaction – it’s not always as perfect as others make out! Enjoy what you have and do what you do at Christmas
  • Drink water – along with the mulled wine, fizz and all the other things we consume! Water will help so much with hydration (and hangovers) and will also help that digestive system which is a good thing with all the rich Christmas food we consume.
  • Exercise – this is a great way to shift some of the toxins building up in our bodies at this time of year. Exercise helps the lymphatic system eliminate the toxins that our bodies are constantly processing.
  • Rest and sleep – take the opportunity if you can, to get some rest and sleep. Who cares if you stay in your PJs all day and doze on the sofa sometimes?  We are allowed to and the lack of rest and sleep leaves us tired and irritable (or crabbit as we say in Scotland).

These are just a few things that I thought of to help you stay well over the festive period.  I will be by the coast and yes, I am one of those crazy people who love getting in the cold water at this time of year!  Christmas day swim in the sea here I come!

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!

    ‘Awrabest’ for 2023!
