Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD)

RLD is a unique award-winning reflexology technique which was researched and developed by the amazing Sally Kay while she was working in cancer care.  Sally had a huge desire to help relieve the physical and emotional symptoms of lymphoedema and used her knowledge of the lymphatic system and manual lymph drainage to develop this unique technique.

Lymphoedema is defined as tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage and is often associated with breast cancer. It can cause swollen limbs which can be uncomfortable and can cause emotional and psychological issues due to the change in body image. RLD was developed primarily to treat secondary lymphoedema and has shown to reduce swelling significantly.

RLD may also be useful for clients with auto-immune disorders e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, allergies, migraine and other inflammatory conditions.

About the treatment

If you are experiencing swelling in your arms or legs, I will ask you if you are happy that I take measurements of the area of swelling before and after each treatment.  Measuring follows the Limb Volume Circumferential Measurement Protocol (LVCM) used to calculate the limb volume.   Measuring will enable me to compare the swelling before and after the treatment. I can record and show you the results on an ongoing basis across a series of treatments. The treatment is carried out using the unique RLD technique.

The cost of an RLD treatment is £45 per hour which includes measuring.  The cost without measuring is £35.

Aileen is a Reflexology Lymph Drainage Practitioner

I’ve had RLD and normal reflexology from Aileen. The benefits have been amazing, especially with the RLD and couldn’t believe the difference after. She is very professional and would highly recommend her.
