Christmas can be an incredibly stressful time of year for many people.  Buying presents, writing cards, wrapping presents, nights out, cooking for what seems like hundreds of people!! It can also unfortunately be a sad and lonely time of year for many people.

I’ve tried to be more organised this year and buy things earlier (and remember where they are) so as not to get stressed and actually enjoy the run-up to Christmas.

So, the stress, late nights out, alcohol and all that Christmas stuff does take it out of us, so here are a few wee tips to help you keep well this Christmas! I will also try and practice what I preach!!

Here are my tips…

  • Limit social media interaction – it’s not always as perfect as others make out! You don’t need matching Christmas PJs and a colour-coordinated house! Enjoy what you have and do what you do at Christmas whether that is alone or with family and friends.

  • Drink water – along with the mulled wine, fizz and all the other things we consume! Water will help so much with hydration (and hangovers) and will also help that digestive system which is a good thing with all the rich Christmas food we consume.

  • Exercise – this is a great way to shift some of the toxins building up in our bodies at this time of year. Exercise helps the lymphatic system eliminate the toxins that our bodies are constantly processing.

  • Rest and sleep – take the opportunity if you can, to get some rest and sleep. Who cares if you stay in your PJs all day and doze on the sofa sometimes?  We are allowed to…. and the lack of rest and sleep leaves us tired and irritable (or crabbit as we say in Scotland).

  • Speak to family and friends – Try and catch up with someone you’ve not seen/spoken to in a while….it could make their Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year and ‘Awrabest’ for 2024!
